You are leading the care team in the pediatric emergency department. An 8-year-old prepubertal child weighing 25 kg has chronic kidney disease and receives hemodialysis. The child was brought in for weakness and nausea after missing the most recent dialysis session. While the nurse is applying the monitor, the child suddenly collapses.

A nurse, respiratory therapist, and emergency physician are present. Oxygen, bag-mask equipment, pediatric airway equipment, IV and IO supplies, emergency medications, a manual defibrillator, and point-of-care testing are immediately available.
